Hand Beaded 10½" African Zulu Diviner Doll Gift #22 For Sale

10½" tall. Hand sewn. I would consider these dolls "Investment" art. Only a small group of Zulu ladies make these dolls. A small group of African Art dealers have access. Doll making has been a tradition in South Africa for many years. Usually as a meaningful gift.This is a Diviner Doll. Diviners usually wears long white beaded hair or head dresses in acknowledgement of their association with the shades of the underworld. This doll will indeed make "You" smile every time you look at it.
Zululand (yes that is the large area of South Africa where the Zulu live) is a remote area in the far North East part of South Africa that borders with Mozambique and the Indian Ocean. Few tourists make it to this area. World class Scuba diving is the main attraction (I had the pleasure of working as a Scuba Instructor there). Back to the "remote", driving in certain areas is becoming very scary, as Violent crime has become a huge problem. Last 4 pictures my visit to Zululand in 2018.
