This is a mortar hand-carved on Andean black stone. Shamans use mortars to grind incense and herbs for sprinkling onto charcoal or for preparation of medicaments used in healing ceremonies. The Andean people used it on their tables to make them on the heights of the mountains in gratitude to Pachamama (mother earth). As you can see in the pictures is a mortar has carved an Andean Condor head on each side of the mortar.
