VINTAGE GOODELL-PRATT BREAST DRILL MARCH 31, 1896 " REFURBISHED " L@@K For Sale

This listing is for a Vintage Goodell-Pratt breast Drill. Patent date of March 31, 1896. They call these breast drills because of the top handle design. To use it you press the top handle against your breast/chest to push down while drilling. This company was founded in 1888 in Massachusetts and went out of business just after the stock market crash in 1929. Included with this listing is a print out of information about the company. I have completely cleaned, removed any corrosion, repainted, and lubricated all the moving parts with light oil. I sanded and refinished both wood handles as well. This is a 2 speed drill as you can see by one of the pictures. The upper handle has 2 positions. If you loosen the top screw it will rotate 90 degrees and lock in that position. Everything works smoothly. The big main gear I did not repaint or I would have lost the company decals. It was cleaned and clear coated. It is about 22 inches long and weighs about 8 lbs. with packaging.
