VTG 1950\'S LARGE ROSBRO EASTER CANDY CONTAINER RUNNING BUNNY W BABY CARRIAGE:
$259.00

This listing is for an E Rosen (Rosbro, Tico) candy container from the 1950\'s. He is made from hard plastic (Styrene). The E. Rosen Candy Company started business in 1911, located in Rhode Island. They sold all kinds of things to go with their candy, to encourage sales. Their business really took off in the late 1940\'s, when Styrene became available at a price that was cheap enought for the to use it for toys. They purchased two companies as wholly owned subsidiaries - Rosbro and Tico, and sold their plastic pieces across all three companies. The E. Rosen company was probably most famous for their wax lips they sold in the 1950s. They were bright red, made of plain wax, and you bought them and wore them holding them between your teeth, then chewed the wax. Yech, huh? They were wilding popular at the time.
Anyway, the plastic pieces have endured with collectors, because of their quality and charm. They are thick enough to survive without too much breakage, although the older they get, the more brittle they become. It is hard to find ones that haven\'t sustained damage from cracking or breaks from dropping. They were originally sold as \"unbreakable\".
This fellow is a large piece - 9 inches long, featuring a running bunny pushing a baby carriage. I added a NEW (not vintage) chenille chick, as I thought it looked cute. Up to you to keep or discard. The bunny works great except a bit of a wobble to the wheels. I didn\'t find any breaks. The paint is good, just a few tiny scrapes.
