This is one classy and beautiful machine. A Smith Corona Sterling from 1947 in excellent working condition. Fully cleaned and serviced, this machine will work right out of the box - no need to find a local typewriter tech for servicing as it's already been done.
The rubber feet and paper rollers are still soft. The platen has hardened over the years, but it's still very usable. I recommend using two sheets of paper for a darker, crisper impression. While the tab system does work, this machine did not come with any tab stops so you won't be able to use tabs until you are able to locate the tab stops and add them to the back of the machine. A new black and red ribbon has been added to the original metal spools.
The typewriter is in beautiful condition for being 77 years old and only shows sings of wear on the back where it was taken in and out of the case. (Which is to be expected.) The case itself, however, does show signs of wear. The case closure does latch, but it unlatches itself and I would recommend using a strap to keep it completely closed. I've had it latched and then ten minutes later come back to see the case sitting slightly open. Just something to be on the lookout for.
A note on shipping: Since shipping cost is based on weight and location of delivery, I have added two options for shipping. Please select the one that is cheapest for you. If you're using a PO Box or 's International Shipping option, you must select USPS. Thank you.
