Two Vintage High School Playbooks / Scripts
from Langford High School, Langford, SD
1946 & 1948
\"Too Many Husbands\" and \"The Daffy Dills\"
(with Scene & Cast Programs)
Two very interesting artifacts from the mid-1940s... These are the scripts or \"Playbooks\" for two High School production plays, presumably staged by students at Langford High School in Northeast South Dakota, as evidenced by the actual Cast Programs for these plays staged in November 1946, and April 1948. These two Programs are shown in the photos and included with these Playbooks.
“Too Many Husbands“, and “The Daffy Dills“ appear to have been some very entertaining productions back in the day, and they must have been memorable events for the person who kept these scripts among their possessions for the past 75 years.
The playbook for \"The Daffy Dills\" (by Jay Tobias) is copyrighted 1945 and published by T.S. Denison & Company, Chicago/Minneapolis.
The playbook for \"Too Many Husbands\" (by Ray Hodges) is copyrighted 1940 and published by The Northwestern Press, Minneapolis.
Both of these scripts have a bit of annotating and underlining, specifically around the lines of the student/actors parts to whom these belonged.
All pages are intact, and the spines were reinforced with cellophane tape, probably 75 years ago.
