🕰️ The Magic of 1897: Antique W.H. Grindley \"Syrian\" Flow Blue Chamber Pot/Lid:
$149.00

🕰️ The Magic of 1897: Antique W.H. Grindley "Syrian" Flow Blue Covered Chamber Pot. A Masterpiece of Victorian British Ironstone Pottery. Step back into the late 19th century with this absolutely stunning, 130-year-old Chamber Pot and lid (part of gorgeous wash set). Crafted by W.H. Grindley & Co. in the legendary pottery district of Tunstall, Staffordshire, England, this handled, lidded, Chamber Pot is a breathtaking example of peak Victorian dining elegance.📜 The Story Behind the Piece -The Fabled "Syrian" Pattern: Introduced in 1897, the Syrian pattern features beautifully stylized floral scrolls, intricate geometric accents, and ornate flourishes. It was inspired by the late-Victorian British fascination with Eastern and romanticized global aesthetics. The Flow Blue Magic: Flow blue was a happy accident turned global obsession. English potters discovered that adding volatile chlorides to the kiln caused the cobalt blue transferware patterns to "bleed" and blur beautifully into the surrounding white glaze. This specific piece features a gorgeous, deep cobalt "flow" effect that catches the light beautifully under its original high-gloss factory shine. The Registry Mark: On the reverse, you will find the original blue-printed W.H. Grindley "Globe & Crest" backstamp, alongside the deeply impressed British Registration Number "Rd No 30325". This official number explicitly dates the birth of this exact design pattern to 1897—making it a documented survivor of the late Victorian era.

✨ Condition: A Rare Survivor -Finding a complete, 10-inch Victorian Chamber Pot that retains its original matching lid is incredibly rare. Lids were frequently dropped and broken across generations. This piece is in remarkable antique condition. The glaze is exceptionally bright and smooth, showing no deep staining, no hairline cracks, and no modern repairs. Note on Antiquity: There are two extremely shallow, minor flakes on the bottom-most foot rim. Because they are entirely on the underneath resting rim, they are invisible when the tureen is standing upright. They do not alter the display value, stability, or presentation of this incredible heirloom.

🍽️ Perfect For Display or Collection - Whether displayed prominently in a farmhouse hutch, or as an addition to an advanced Flow Blue historic collection, this Chamber Pot carries its history beautifully. Dimensions: Approx. 10" Wide (including handle)

Shipping: Expertly wrapped, double-boxed, and fully insured through USPS.
