Wonderful vintage Soviet porcelain figurine depicting Ivan Tsarevich and the Frog Princess, one of the most beloved characters from traditional Russian folklore. This elaborate sculptural group is attributed to the Leningrad Porcelain Products Factory (LZFI) and sculptor Anatoly A. Kiselev, with documented examples dating to approximately 1956–1967.
The scene portrays Prince Ivan standing beside a rocky pool, with his bow and quiver carried across his back while the enchanted frog waits prominently at the water's edge. The detailed landscape incorporates sculpted rocks, flowing blue water, and additional naturalistic elements that create an unusually dimensional composition.
Soft shades of ivory, blue, gray, and dusty rose are complemented by extensive hand-painted gold decoration on Ivan's traditional costume. Fine details include his delicately painted facial features, elaborate gilt clothing decoration, pink boots, bow and quiver, and the wonderfully expressive blue-green frog.
An especially interesting feature is the hand-inscribed Cyrillic presentation dedication extending across the front of the base. The inscription commemorates Viktor's birthday, from Yuri, and is dated October 21, 1958. This period inscription places this particular example firmly within the documented production era of the design and gives the piece a wonderful personal history.
Remnants of a factory mark remain on the underside but are now too worn to read clearly. The LZFI attribution is based upon comparison with documented examples of this distinctive composition.
At approximately 10.5" tall, this is a substantial and visually impressive example of mid-century Soviet porcelain and a striking addition to a collection of Leningrad porcelain, Russian fairy-tale figures, Soviet ceramics, or Eastern European decorative arts.

Condition
Very good vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs found to the visible figurine. There is a chip/loss to the interior edge of the hollow underside of the base, visible mostly when the figurine is turned over and having no effect on its stability or display. Minor age-related wear and manufacturing irregularities are present. A hand-inscribed Cyrillic birthday dedication dated 1958 appears along the front of the base.
