Beaded Lakota Sioux Stone Head War Club Skullcracker

Offered here is one of the more unique beaded War clubs i have ever acquired.

Guaranteed authentic!!!! I have sold several War clubs, some very plain with absolutely no beadwork and then others that have significant beadwork.

I will continue to say that these beaded War clubs were more symbolistic rather than used in traditional warfare.

While this Skullcracker is fully functional, and could easily do what it was made to do, the reality is, the beaded handle would never last if used in warfare repeatedly. Beads were just too hard to come by to be used and lost so easily.

So I believe these were either made for members of secret society\'s for ceremonial purposes, and perhaps later into the reservation period. And in some instances, where damage to the stone and beadwork is apparent and evident, they were probably used to crack a few skulls.

In this instance, there is some bead loss that can be seen. Some beads are loose on both the shaft and around the stone  head. A lot of obvious patina, there is no way to recreate the age this club displays.

There is some deterioration to the leather trim as well. Please view the pictures closely and request extra photos if you would like as they are a part of the description.

As long as this piece is handled correctly, you should not see any additional beadloss whatsoever.

This Lakota carved stone club has quartz druzy on each side. Druzy is formed when mineral-rich water flows over or around a rock surface, When the water evaporates, cooling occurs and the minerals are left behind to form crystals on top of the rock.
