This is a unique and rare 1852 letter written by Lewis Bartholomew Woodruff to his brother in Litchfield CT.
Judge Woodruff was a US Circuit Court Judge who had a case that was later cited in the famous U.S. vs Susan B. Anthony trial. He was also considered by President Grant to fill a vacancy as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
