Small manuscript note relating to land near the First Meeting House in Boston, Massachusetts. The piece is a single paper slip written on both sides, measuring approximately 3 × 7.75 inches, with handwritten ink text and a small hand-drawn diagram showing measurements and boundaries.
The manuscript reads in part:
“First Meeting House Lot in Boston, and a lot adjoining which EDWARD GOODWIN purchased.”
Beside the note is a simple survey-style diagram showing a parcel outline with measurement figures written along the sides, suggesting a rough property layout or boundary sketch for the lot described. These types of small working diagrams were often used when recording or visualizing parcel divisions or adjacent property ownership.
The reverse side shows part of a printed form from the City of Hartford Treasury, indicating the sheet was originally a printed municipal receipt or similar form that was later reused for this handwritten note.
The First Meeting House in Boston refers to the historic First Church of Boston, one of the earliest Congregational churches in the city and a central landmark in colonial Boston. References to adjoining property and purchaser EDWARD GOODWIN suggest the note may relate to land ownership or boundary reference near that historic site.
Condition shows age and handling consistent with an early paper note, including toning and edge wear. Please review all images carefully for details and condition.
