The Thomas Flyer was a legendary American automobile manufactured by the E.R. Thomas Motor Company in Buffalo, New York, from 1903 to 1919. Famous for its massive engines and brass-era elegance, the car cemented its place in history by winning the grueling 1908 New York-to-Paris \'round-the-world endurance race.The E.R.
Thomas Motor Company produced several variations of the Flyer, with the 1907 Model 35—the specific vehicle that won the famous race—featuring a massive 571 cubic-inch (around 60 horsepower) four-cylinder engine. This powerhouse was priced at roughly $4,500 in 1907, an astronomical sum at a time when the average annual wage was about $600.The winning 1907 Thomas Flyer is currently preserved and on display for the public at the National Automobile Museum in Reno, Nevada.
