Antique circa-1920s real photo postcard showing the historic Mission Bridge across the Santa Ana River in Riverside, California.
Built in 1923, this distinctive bridge was also known as the Ruofferoux Bridge and Santa Ana River Bridge. Its Mission Revival-style towers made it a recognizable Riverside landmark. The bridge connected Riverside with West Riverside, an area now incorporated into Jurupa Valley.
The photograph appears to show the bridge in its early configuration, surrounded by the Santa Ana River landscape, trees and distant mountains.
The postcard has an unused and unposted divided back with no writing, stamp or postmark.
This card is in heavily worn condition. It has considerable age toning, foxing, staining, fading and surface abrasion. Areas of photographic emulsion and image loss are visible, particularly along the left border and across the lower portion of the photograph. Additional edge and corner wear is present. The reverse has widespread spotting and discoloration.
Despite the condition issues, the bridge remains clearly identifiable. This is an interesting original image for collectors of Riverside history, California bridges, Mission Revival architecture, transportation history and early California photography.

CONDITION
Poor to fair antique condition with heavy age toning, foxing, stains, fading, scratches, surface abrasion and photographic image loss. Significant wear is visible along the left edge and lower center. There is additional edge and corner wear throughout. The reverse has considerable spotting and discoloration. Unposted and unused.
