Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic piece of Japanese pre-war ceramic artistry. This exquisite export porcelain teacup and saucer set was manufactured in 1930 by the renowned Shofu Porcelain Manufacturing Company in Nagoya, Japan.
Artistry: This set perfectly captures the elegance of the Art Deco era. It features a striking dual-tone iridescent lusterware glaze separated by a crisp black boundary line. The top half is finished in a luminous periwinkle blue luster, while the bottom fades into a warm, pearlescent peach-gold wash that beautifully catches the light. The set is decorated by hand with a winding dark brown cherry blossom branch. The white blossoms feature exquisite, raised moriage (tactile, three-dimensional slip-dot) detailing on the petals, giving the piece a wonderful texture and premium feel.Markings: Authenticity: Fully marked on the bottom of the cup with the authentic \"MADE IN SHOFU JAPAN\" double-circle backstamp used right at the start of the 1930s.
