Up for sale is a beautiful 1960s vintage Swedish Dala Horse (Dalahäst), hand-carved and hand-painted in the historic village of Färnäs within the Mora municipality of Dalarna, Sweden.
While the majority of vintage pieces on the market come from the mass-commercial Nils Olsson or Grannas Olsson factories in Nusnäs, this horse is a rarer find from the independent artisan workshop of Erik Pell. It features the highly collectible, original green-and-gold foil \"ÄKTA Dalahemslöjd / Tillv. Erik Pell\" label completely intact and legible on its belly. This independent carver mark makes it an excellent, harder-to-find addition for serious folk art collectors.
This mid-century piece is in excellent, clean vintage condition with no chips or repairs. The original paint and lacquer are remarkably well-preserved. The traditional kurbits floral detail painting is bright and crisp, and the muzzle retains all its original factory-painted white and black bridle details over the natural, hand-carved wood grain. The original foil maker\'s label remains fully intact and clear on the underside.
