Up for sale is an original 1964 WestPac Deployment Cruise Book for the USS Braine (DD-630). This rare Fletcher-class destroyer yearbook documents the ship's journey through the Western Pacific just as operations in Southeast Asia were escalating.
Historical Content:
A detailed mileage chart and port-of-call list including Yokosuka, Subic Bay, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, Pearl Harbor, San Diego, and Sasebo. Also In 1964, while this book was being made, the USS Braine was used in the filming of the John Wayne movie In Harm's Way.
Unique Character: This copy features handwritten personal log entries and notes from a crew member (as seen in photos), providing a fascinating look at daily life aboard the "Galloping Ghost of the Vietnam Coast."
Condition: In good vintage condition. The cover shows some shelf wear and aging typical of its 60+ year history. Interior pages are clean and binding is secure.
