Thank you fortaking time to view this listing for a small archive of incredible UC Riverside history of their landmark Bell Tower, The Carillon. This archive comes from the estate of former campus architect Al Height and includes the following:
#1 a 1966 typed letter from Philip Boyd who gifted The Carillon to the university. The letter was written several months before the dedication of the bell tower has 2 tears along the folds on the right side as seen in the photos. Elmo Morgan is mentioned in the letter, Morgan was later involved in the Manhattan Project. The letter is signed by Boyd's secretary who signed for him.
#2 The archive also includes the original invitation to the tower dedication along with the original envelope.
#3 A typed invitation from Chancellor Ivan Hinderaker.
#4 A revised 1978 publication of the history of the Carillon that belonged to the campus architect's wife Winnie.
#5 We are also throwing in a bonus invitation to Haight's retirement celebration that was held in the Lea Lea Room at the Mission Inn.
