Vintage 1975 Soviet art postcard featuring the color woodcut “Oath” by Lithuanian graphic artist Albina Makunaite (born 1926).
The artwork illustrates the famous Lithuanian folk tale “Eglė the Queen of Serpents” (Eglė žalčių karalienė), one of the best-known legends of Lithuanian mythology and folklore. The dramatic composition depicts Eglė and her family, rendered in a bold, expressive folk-inspired graphic style.
Published in Moscow, USSR, in 1975 by Sovetsky Khudozhnik (Soviet Artist) publishing house.
