2 Vintage KICHWA MOCAHUA Drinking Cups / ECUADOR RAINFOREST / Some Damage / RARE For Sale

The Kichwa tribes in the rainforests of Ecuador make these small drinking cups using the coil technique with locally sourced clay. The women hand paint the pieces, sometimes with brushes made with human hair.

These cups measure approximately 3.5 inches wide by 1.5 inches tall and are in good condition for their age. They have rim losses (one more than the other) and general use wear (see photos). Both have been varnished by a previous owner to prevent paint loss.
