For sale is a beautiful, matched pair of antique "Picket Fence" pattern stoneware mixing bowls. These heavy, primitive kitchen crocks feature a rich, glossy cinnamon-brown salt glaze on the exterior and interior, framed by a distinct unglazed cream-colored collar and base.
This specific pattern with the sharp embossed fence triangles is highly collectible and widely attributed to Ruckel's Pottery out of Whitehall, Illinois, dating from the early 20th century.
CONDITION:
Both bowls are in fantastic antique condition with an excellent, highly reflective interior glaze. One bowl is in exceptional condition with crisp lines and a pristine interior finish. The second bowl features a small, original factory kiln mark/glaze pop near the interior bottom surface, which is smooth to the touch and completely typical of 100-year-old stoneware production.
