2 Letters from the office of Cecil B. DeMille, signed by his longtime secretary Florence Cole. The letters are dated 1958 and 1959, and are addressed to a Mrs. A. Lemerand of Detroit. On Paramount Pictures stationery with \"The Ten Commandments\" logo in bottom left.Florence Cole worked for/with Mr. DeMille from the 1930s to his death in 1959. She assisted in most or all of his major films during that time, including The Ten Commandments.The letter of 19 August 1958expresses appreciation for the sender\'s birthday wishes. (Mr. DeMille\'s birthday was August 21.) It also mentions that is he recovering well from \"his recent illness\" -- probably a reference to the heart attack he had suffered two months earlier. It was the first of a series of such attacks that led to his death six months later.The second letter has less content, but the date of 6 January 1959 is significant, as the director died but two weeks later.Condition is average; the letters show handling/use. One envelope has \"Mr. DeMille signature\" scrawled by an unknown person on the back; however, this is misleading, as he has signed neither these letters nor the envelope.
