Getting supplies to Marshal Tito in Yugoslavia is no longer an OSS job. In the early fall of 1943, however, when Tito was still considered mainly as a guerrilla leader, it was OSS which opened the sea-land route to his headquarters. This is the story of the Yugoslav assignment. Within three weeks, four OSS officers made a complete reconnaissance, gathered considerable intelligence, established bases and transshipping facilities, and procured a fleet of small ships. In another six weeks, they had set up a supply service more than able to handle all that the Allies were at the moment prepared to send or Tito to receive. An analysis of the results of the operation shows clearly how a minimum of Allied effort and expenditure applied at a strategic point and moment achieved very substantial effects on the enemy\'s military strength.
