📌 DESCRIPTION

Built around the identity of the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), “The Legion,” this recognition coin connects modern Green Beret imagery with one of the Group’s most recognizable pieces of heraldry. Its shield-shaped profile reproduces the distinctive black, white, yellow, and red 5th SFG(A) beret flash, a design restored by the Group in 2016 to reconnect its modern Soldiers with its Vietnam-era lineage.

The front places a helmeted Special Forces operator over the 5th Group flash, with SAVAGE PROFESSIONALS across the lower field. Special Forces crossed-arrow imagery is incorporated into the lettering, creating a visual play on the “Quiet Professionals” identity long associated with Army Special Forces. Together, the operator artwork, crossed arrows, and flash establish a distinctly 5th Group visual identity.

The reverse reveals the more specialized nature of the coin. PRESENTED FOR EXCELLENCE surrounds a collection of individual team and sub-unit emblems representing the detachment-level identity of C Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, including a clearly marked SFODA 591 design and the central green 3-5-C guidon-style emblem.
