RARE LOT OF 62 – VINTAGE AVIS NAVAJO “WE TRY HARDER” ADVERTISING BUTTONS
Offered is a large collection of 62 matching vintage Avis Rent A Car promotional buttons, all featuring the Navajo-language version of Avis’s famous “We Try Harder” advertising campaign.
The buttons read:
“T’áá yedigo ádeit’i.”
The reverse identifies the language as NAVAJO and features the AVIS RENT A CAR logo and the wording “In any language… We try harder.”
These are the distinctive fold-over tab-style buttons, approximately 1½ inches in diameter, associated with Avis’s multilingual advertising promotion of the 1960s. Contemporary Avis advertising stated that the buttons were available in numerous languages at Avis rental counters.
