SPIRITUAL INFORMATION:
Los Siete Potencias Africanas reflect the influence of the Orisha tradition as it spread from the Caribbean into mainland hoodoo & brujería/curanderismo traditions. In many botanicas & spiritual shops, you'll often find "The Seven African Powers" or simply "Siete Potencias". Traditionally, a title for the most well-known & powerful Orishas(great spirits): Elegua, Ogun, Orula, Chango, Ochun, Yemaya & Obatala. Called on together, these Orishas represent all the powers of Nature, Magick, Human Archetypes & Ancestors incarnate. The 7 Powers are called on for protection, guidance, divination & powerful workings in almost all aspects of life.
SIMPLE PRAYER & RITUAL:
Go to your altar or a clean space [table, shelf, windowsill, etc] where it's safe to burn a candle. Lay your eleke collar down in the form of a circle. Inside the circle, place a white or 7-color candle next to a glass of clean cold water & a small cup of hot coffee. [Other offerings like fresh fruit, incense, tobacco, good liquor & sweets, are nice too, but only use what you have/can afford.] Now, light the candle. Then pray-
"Blessings to The Ancestors & Hail, Most Holy Seven Powers who move & stir our world!
I humbly ask you to open the way, guide & clear my path.
Be my guardians & grant me protection.
Be my champions & bring me victory.
Be my sweetness, shower me with your abundance & intuition.
Be my wisdom, ground & clairify my intent.
Great Seven Powers, hear my plea, know my heart, know my mind & know my sincere gratitude."
Make your ask/petition, etc. Then finish with thanks & prayer-ending according to your tradition. You can leave the candle to burn, if it's safe, or snuff it out. Then relight it, repeat the prayer & let it burn completely when you can. After the candle has completely burned, discard the water, coffee & any other offerings somewhere outdoors & natural. The base of a tree is best, but any green space, river or ocean, railroad tracks or crossroads will all do fine. Also, make sure everything you leave is biodegradable; not litter.

I create these eleke collares intentionally & specifically for anyone that honors the orishas in a folk/magick practice like hoodoo, brujería, curanderismo, espiritismo, etc.* As you would do for spiritual statues, elekes are meant to be treated with respect, kept in a place of honor [when not being worn], ritually bathed & given offerings every so often. Most traditions also advise:
1. It's not wise to let others [especially strangers] touch your elekes.
2. When your elekes start feeling heavy or hot, they're telling you something. Follow your tradition's guidance for divination & cleansing.
