When deciding to sell this Abalone Shell I needed to do research and discovered many things about these creatures.
This Abalone lived in deep water making it able to grow much rounder, deeper, more domed shaped Shell. It didn't have to fight the drag of the waves.
The inside has a dark muscle scar patterned in the center and the vivid blend of emerald green, pink, metallic blues, and turquoise. The light passes through layers of microscopic platelets called aragonite.

The rugged exterior beautifully displays the shells history as natural mico-ecosystem, complete with authentic, decades old marine encrusations.
Uses for these shells include home decor, foyer key dish, jewelry, crafting, ect.
Please note: if you buy this for a wooden shelf have something under the shell so not to scratch the wood...
