Description Offered for Sale is this Amazing c1900 American Stoneware Jug with Dark Brown Albany-type slip glaze and Hand Scratched Inscription S. S. Rich, E. Prov. RI. There is no makers mark on the jug. The only reference I could find for S.S. Rich, E. Prov. RI was as follows - S.S. Rich was born in Massachusetts in 1846 and moved to Providence RI as a young child. He later became a local figure, property owner and civil participant in East Providence. He is noted in a local news article in 1907. Based on this history and the hand scratched engraving, I would date the jug to c1900. This Wonderful Early Jug would make a Great Addition to any Antique / Vintage Stoneware Jug Collection.

Condition: - Good Overall Used Condition. The Jug displays scratching, nicking / chipping and general over wear consistent with an item of this age. Please see the pictures to view the condition of the item for yourself.
