Adamite Crystals | San Rafael Mine, Nye County, Nevada - Large Crystal Size For Sale

Aggregates of green adamite crystals cover a siliceous gossan matrix on this speciment. Small, double-terminated crystals to 3mm occur among the small microcrystals that make up the aggregates. These are large crystals for the locality, where most specimens are botryoidal aggregates. There is minor bruising (see video and photos).

The San Rafael Mine is an abandoned silver-lead-gold mine located in the Lodi Mining District. It was operated primarily in the early 1900s, with most of the production in the 1920s. The main production shaft was a shallowly dipping 450-ft incline that is now collapsed just below the collar. A large amount of arsenopyrite occurred in the primary ore, which has resulted in many rare arsenate species being present in the oxidized zone. This was a popular site for local collectors into the mid-2000\'s, with most collecting occurring on the 352-foot level.
