Beautiful ancient ring with lots of detail. 5th-8th Century AD. Gilt bronze size 2 for the small finger as was the custom.
Typical Roman characteristics are the oval bezel and projecting bottom nub. The thick raised banded bezel has incised transverse lines dividing it into thirds which are inscribed with simple characters that serve as the unique signature of its owner. Appears to incorporate the Roman ere “Eye” visible on some relics.
***Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored. Not a gold ring…Has the gilt bronze process of covering the outer surface with gold.
