Rare 19th-Century French Japonisme Plate – Bracquemond-Rousseau Service with Scarce "LAURIN" Maker's Mark
Up for sale is a highly collectible and historic piece of French ceramic history: a fine earthenware plate from the iconic Bracquemond-Rousseau service, originally designed in 1866–1867 by Félix Bracquemond and Eugène Rousseau.
While most pieces from this foundational Japonisme service bear the standard Creil & Montereau factory mark, this particular example features the scarce underglaze blue "LAURIN" stamp from the celebrated studio of François Laurin in Bourg-la-Reine. Laurin’s workshop was a tight-knit hub for Impressionist-era artists and ceramic innovators (including Ernest Chaplet and Auguste Lepère), making this variant exceptionally desirable for advanced collectors of 19th-century French art pottery.
