Antique 1876 Centennial Exposition Glass Shoe Pair by Gillinder & Son EAPG
This antique Gillinder & Son pair of glass ladies shoes was made in 1876 for the American centennial celebration at the the 1876 World fair in Philadelphia Pa. You see a lot of Bicentennial memorabilia, but you don't often see stuff from the centennial celebration 100 years prior! They are in excellent collectable condition with no damage on either. They are marked "Gillinder & Son Centennial exposition". They also glow a yellowish green similar to uranium glass under a uv light due to the manganese present in the glass. This was used as a clarifying agent that was largely phased out by 1900. They are approximately 5 1/2" inches long and stand 2 1/2" inches tall each.
