Up for sale is a genuine antique Bates Automatic Numbering Machine manufactured by the Bates Manufacturing Co. in Orange, New Jersey, U.S.A. This is a beautiful, heavy-duty piece of early American office industrial history.
Based on the faceplate patent dates (July 21, 1891 and Oct. 18, 1893) and the early serial number (188621), this unit dates back to the late 1890s or very early 1900s.

Condition:
This machine is in great antique condition with a stunning authentic aged patina. The front and back metal plates are beautifully preserved and 100% legible. The mechanical plunger moves smoothly, and the internal number wheels rotate as intended. The internal ink pad is present but completely dry due to its age. No cracks or major damage to the cast frame.
