Antique 1890s Child Cabinet Card Photo Phil Beal Victorian Boy Boots Belt Description
Charming antique cabinet card-style studio photograph of a young child identified on the reverse as “Phil Beal.”
The child is posed standing beside an ornate wicker studio chair and decorative painted backdrop, wearing an elaborate period outfit consisting of a dark double-breasted coat or tunic, large bow at the neck, knee-length trousers, decorative belt with a large buckle, and wonderful high button boots.
The clothing, hairstyle, elaborate studio setting and decorative embossed card mount give this portrait excellent late Victorian character. Based on the photographic and clothing styles, it likely dates to approximately the 1890s to early 1900s.
The reverse is handwritten “Phil Beal.” There is also very faint earlier writing near the upper edge that is difficult to decipher.

The card appears to have been trimmed along the bottom edge, possibly at some point to fit into a photograph album or frame.
An appealing identified antique childhood portrait with particularly nice period clothing, button boots, decorative belt, wicker furniture and an ornate studio backdrop. A great piece for a collection of Victorian and Edwardian photography, antique children\'s portraits, genealogy, fashion history or identified cabinet photographs.
Condition
Antique condition with expected age-related wear. There is edge and corner wear to the mount, some surface marks and scratches to the photograph, and evidence of old adhesive/tape or mounting residue on the reverse. The bottom of the card appears to have been trimmed. Please examine the photographs carefully for the overall condition.
