Antique Victorian advertising trade card for Phillips’ Digestible Cocoa, featuring a beautifully illustrated young girl enjoying cocoa with a cat beside her.
The reverse provides detailed advertising for Phillips’ Digestible Cocoa and identifies The Chas. H. Phillips Chemical Co., 30 Pearl Street, N.Y.
This example has an interesting original period dealer stamp in red across the reverse reading “J.H. Cool, Druggist, Oneida, New York.” The dealer stamp adds provenance and local advertising interest to the card.
The card dates to the late 19th century, circa 1891, and is a wonderful example of Victorian chromolithographed advertising ephemera.
Condition:
Shows age-related toning, discoloration, edge/corner wear, creasing, surface wear, and areas of staining. The original dealer stamp is present on the reverse. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they show the exact card and condition.
