Antique / Vintage Westminster Chime Mantel Clock – 3 Train Movement – Art Deco Style
A very attractive vintage mechanical mantel clock, believed to date from approximately the 1920s–1930s.
The clock features a traditional wooden Art Deco-style case with decorative carved detailing, silvered dial, Arabic numerals, hinged glazed bezel and three winding points.
The dial is marked “FOREIGN”, indicating that the clock was manufactured outside the UK for the British market. Clocks of this type were commonly fitted with German-made movements.
It is fitted with a three-train mechanical movement, operating the timekeeping, chime and hour strike functions separately.
The clock has a Chime / Silent selector positioned on the dial, allowing the chiming mechanism to be switched off if desired.
The clock does chime and the melody mechanism operates. It is currently fully wound on all three trains. However, the clock will run for a short period and then stop.
The movement appears to contain old oil and dirt and therefore requires servicing, cleaning and adjustment before regular use.
It is therefore being sold as a vintage mechanical clock requiring service, rather than as a fully serviced working clock.
The wooden case is in very good vintage condition with no obvious major damage. The glass, dial, hands, pendulum, gong rods and internal mechanism are present.
Original winding key is included.
A very attractive period Westminster chime mantel clock with a substantial brass movement and four-rod gong.
