Up for sale is a beautiful, highly detailed vintage Catholic devotional cathedral shrine featuring Saint Thérèse of Lisieux (The Little Flower).
Made in the Late 1940s to 1950s (Post-War Era).
Stamped "MADE IN JAPAN" in raised letters inside the hollow base.
Features its original, intact paper/foil front sticker reading "Souvenir of New York."
Stunning Gothic architectural openwork tower. The front showcases St. Thérèse in her Carmelite habit with rosary beads & holding her roses. The reverse side features an intricate openwork Sacred Heart of Jesus motif.
Approximately 7 inches tall (the premium, larger mantle size).
This piece has a magnificent, authentic aged patina. It features a multi-layered electroplated finish over a cast zinc/pot-metal base. Over the decades, handling has naturally worn away areas of the outer silver-toned plating, beautifully exposing the warm copper-flash primer layer underneath. The dark oxidation in the deep crevices creates a stunning, multi-toned dimensional effect.
The structure is solid. It is being sold exactly as found to preserve its historical value and visual character. Please see all photos for a precise look at the condition.
