Description Offered for your consideration is an antique pie crimper. From the 1800s, the unmarked gadget was forged by hand, by a blacksmith. I do not detect any mark of maker or origin. These tools were mostly used in baking, allowing the user to put a crimped edge to their baking items, and for cutting dough and pastry. The crimper roller shows signs of irregularities, leading me to discern that it was hand crafted. The crimper has a brass ferrule, which keeps the metal secure in the short wooden handle. The tool is in very good \'as found\' condition, showing handling and use, with an aged patina to the wood handle. The wheel still turn freely. There is no wiggle to the gadget where the metal meets the handle. The crimper is 6 1/4\" long. A perfect addition for the vintage baking collection. sales can be combined to save on shipping.
