This is an authentic 19th-century military short sword, known in the German tradition as a Faschinenmesser (Fascine Knife). This regulation model dates back to the 1850s-1860s and served as a sidearm for artillery units and pioneers in the Prussian Army.
The solid brass hilt features a traditional ribbed grip and a distinctive Cross Pattée (Iron Cross style) embossed in the center of the crossguard. This emblem was a prestigious military symbol of the Prussian states.
The heavy steel blade is of exceptional quality, featuring a triple-fuller design (three longitudinal grooves) to optimize balance and strength. This type of blade was characteristic of the high-end production in Solingen for military contracts.
