Beautiful antique Art Nouveau decorative vase or cachepot featuring a copper bowl mounted to a cast pewter frame with three flowing supports terminating in stylized animal or mythological heads. The organic lines are characteristic of the Jugendstil movement and date this piece to approximately 1900–1915.
The copper bowl has a brown patina from age, while the pewter frame retains its original soft gray finish. The bowl is soldered to the stand and was made as a single unit rather than being removable. The underside is stamped with the number “1220” along with what appears to be a faint maker’s mark beginning with the letters “WM,” although the remainder is too worn to read with certainty.
The interior shows age-related oxidation and discoloration consistent with an antique copper vessel. The exterior displays an attractive, untouched patina with light wear from normal use.
This was a family piece belonging to my aunt’s in-laws and has remained in the family for many years.
