Antique / Vintage Adirondack-Style Splint Wood Pack Basket with Canvas Harness
Wonderful old woven wood splint pack basket featuring a traditional tapered backpack form, reinforced wooden rim and base, original-style tan canvas carrying harness, adjustable metal hardware, and buckle closure.
This type of basket was traditionally used throughout the Northeastern United States for hunting, trapping, fishing, gathering, and carrying supplies. The construction and hardware are consistent with early-to-mid 20th-century Adirondack / New England pack baskets, although the exact maker, region, and date are unknown.

Approximately 17” tall
Basket opening approximately 15” wide × 11” deep
The basket retains considerable age and character, including warm natural patina to the wood splints and wear to the canvas straps and metal fittings.
Condition: Antique/vintage used condition with wear consistent with age and utilitarian use. There are areas of surface wear, discoloration, staining, scratches, small splits/breaks and irregularities in the woven splints, along with wear and staining to the canvas harness. Metal hardware shows oxidation and age. Wooden rim and base show rubbing, edge wear and old nail construction. Please examine all photographs closely, as they are an important part of the condition description.
Basket remains an impressive primitive decorative piece and is being sold primarily as an antique collectible/display item rather than guaranteed for heavy carrying use.
