A beautifully aged antique Alaska souvenir print/postcard featuring Mendenhall Glacier near Juneau, Alaska, with a handwritten inscription on the back dated Christmas 1916. This is a large card image, approximately 9x7 inches.
The front shows a soft, moody glacier and mountain landscape with forested foreground and muted green, gray, cream, and charcoal tones. The piece appears to be a printed reproduction of artwork rather than an original pencil drawing, with a textured paper/card surface that gives it a painterly, atmospheric look. The image is marked “Mendenhall Glacier Alaska” and appears to be signed/copyrighted Mary Fox. The sender notes on the back that the original canvas took 16 days to paint the original canvas.
The reverse has period handwriting addressed as a holiday greeting, with references to Alaska, Mendenhall Glacier, Juneau, and Christmas 1916.
