Pair of Antique Italian Chapel Angel Wall Brackets
A rare matching pair of antique Italian plaster angel wall brackets, originally mounted inside a historic church chapel. Each angel is beautifully modeled with wings and holds a shield decorated with a cross — one a simple gilt cross, the other a more ornate design with painted highlights.
The flat circular tops were intended to support a small statue, relic, or candle. These brackets were permanently installed within the chapel walls, likely flanking an altar or devotional niche. The backs still retain original plaster and wood remnants, clear evidence of their church installation.
Dating to the 19th century, these ecclesiastical pieces show skilled Italian craftsmanship.
They are in beautiful antique condition with expected wear. Part of one was reattached and might need reinforcement before hanging.
