Antique Arts & Crafts Hammered Copper Bookends Roycroft Bird of Paradise 1910s For Sale

The Arts and Crafts era was a reaction to the ornate, fussy Victorian style. This pair of bookends are typical of the Arts & Crafts era. They are made from hand hammered copper. There is a bird of paradise or stylized peacock at the top right of each bookend. The top is rolled and pinched a bit. The bookends are simple. They just have a flat bottom. Each piece is stamped with the R in the orb and cross mark. These bookends have a wonderful patina - they have not been polished. They are much closer in color than in my pictures. In picture #1 the bookend in the front is darker around the bird cameo. The finish is more worn at this spot. The bookends are each 6" wide x 4-1/4" tall x 3" deep. They are from c.1910. Arts and Crafts metal ware is over 100 years old and is getting hard to find!!As I mentioned above, the finish color on these two pieces is much closer than in my pictures. This is best seen in picture #2. There are scuffs and scratches to the finish. There seems to be more wear on the inside, probably because there is no pattern. One thing for sure, the base plates are not level. They still stand evenly. Please see the pictures. They help with the description.
