Antique Bronze Bust Statue German Composer Johann Strauss (1825-1899) c.1898
: Presented is a bronze statue/bust of the classical German composer Johann Strauss. Most famous for his waltzes, he was named the King of Waltzes, the most important composer of the dance music on the end of 19th century.
I have included his photograph from 1898 - the bronze bust was most likely made from this picture. Sometimes Strauss was portrayed with large sideburns but apparently he removed them in the last years of his life.
Made of cast bronze with nice even natural patina. Marked with FBW mark for Fritz Bermann Wienn - the important and well-know Austrian foundry most famous for miniature "Vienna bronze" figurines. This one is not miniature - mounted on a marble pedestal, the statue stands 7.5" tall.
The statue is in excellent condition.
