Antique Buddhist scepter, lotus bud and leaf For Sale

Wooden nyoi scepter, an implement used by Buddhist priests during a ceremony or during formal preaching. Carved naturalistically in the shape of a lotus on a long stem. Actual lotus seeds float and move around in the head of the piece, which also features a bud. Rose wood or sandal wood.

Japan, 19th century, worn down in spots where the scepter was carried and cradled over the years.
