C. C. Laffer is documented in the 1901 Iowa Official Register as the Sheriff of Keokuk County, Iowa, with Sigourney listed as his post office.
The reverse retains the original pinback construction and Whitehead & Hoag Co., Newark, N.J. manufacturer\'s back paper. Whitehead & Hoag was one of America\'s best-known early manufacturers of political and advertising pinback buttons.
CONDITION: Antique condition with age-related yellowing/toning, surface wear, spotting and discoloration. There is a noticeable dark spot/mark near the upper portion of the portrait. The photograph and lettering remain clearly visible. Original pinback and manufacturer\'s back paper are present. Please examine all photographs carefully for exact condition.
An interesting and uncommon piece of early Iowa political history, particularly for collectors of Keokuk County memorabilia, antique political buttons, sheriff/law-enforcement memorabilia and Whitehead & Hoag pinbacks.
