The Antique French Bavent White Terracotta Rabbit Figurine is a charming piece of art that stands at 9 inches in length. Handmade in France during the early 20th century, this glazed earthenware figurine features glass eyes and a white glaze faience finish. Stamped by the artists at Bavent, this collectible item is perfect for any room and can make a delightful addition to any animal-themed collection. With its unique French style and character, this figurine is the kind of piece that captures the essence of the Poterie du Mesnil's White Terracotta era.
This pre-owned piece was a display piece previously but does have some light wear, shown in pictures, and is in great condition overall. There are some manufacturing errors, also shown in pictures, that are present in every hand crafted piece that do not decrease from its authenticity but add to it. There is NO crazing, but there are some chipped glaze spots on the feet, shown in pictures. The bottom stamps of "Bavent, Made in France" are the exact stamps used by the company for generations, so placing an exact manufacturing date is difficult. During the late 19th century and early 20th century though, they experimented with other clays besides the classic red Norman terracotta clay, using clays that appear yellowish or white upon firing, this was known as the "White Terracotta" era. The glass eyes are in excellent condition, see pictures.
