Antique French Brass Pocket Shrine St.Anthony & Jesus Maison Mame 1.5\" WWI.
Up for sale is a beautiful, highly collectible antique French Catholic/Christian pocket shrine dating from the early 20th century (WWI era). These compact shrines were traditionally carried by travelers, pilgrims and soldiers for spiritual protection and comfort.
Key Features:The Capsule: made of heavy brass measuring 1.5\' tall. The top cap is beautifully embossed with a Latin Cross. A maker\'s mark is stamped on the back.
The Figure: Inside is a finely detailed metal miniature statuette of Saint Anthony of Padua holding the infant Jesus. You can distinguish his Franciscan habit, waist cord, and traditional tonsure hairstyle. St. Anthony is the patron saint of travelers and lost things.
Condition: Excellent antique condition. The brass shell has developed a gordeous deep mustard-gold patina over the last century. The inner figure remains crisp with excellent definition.
A wonderful addition to any collection of religious antique or militaria.
