Here we have a wonderful antique French bracket clock of lovely waisted form which is of lovely proportions. The clock dates to circa 1890.
The original painted decorations to the case are superb and the case is finished with ormolu mounts and is raised on lovely ormolu shaped feet. The top is also finished with a pretty ormolu pediment mount. The case is a lovely waisted form which stand very elegantly.
The paintings depict a gentleman and a lady in a country scene with a small dog to the front along with floral decorations. The painted floral decorations continue to the sides and rear. The segmented dial is set out with Roman numeral with smaller Arabic numerals along with pretty markers between. It has a nice pair of hands.
The 8-day mechanism strikes the hours and once at half past on a gong. The movement is nice and clean and comes complete with its pendulum and key.
The approximate MAXIMUM dimensions are: 7 inches / 18 cm wide x 4 inches / 10 cm deep x 13 1/4 inches / 33.5 cm high
CONDITION: The clock is in lovely condition as can be seen from the photographs. The clock is ticking and chiming on the hours and once at half past. The case is in lovely condition just odd minor marks commensurate with age and use and there is a little wear adject to where the glass opens (please see final photograph).
