Antique German Bisque Googly Character Baby Figurine Luster Shoes 3”
Description
Wonderful little antique German bisque character baby figurine, dating to approximately the 1910s–1920s possibly by Gebruder Heubach.
This charming seated baby has an especially expressive face with large side-glancing googly-style painted eyes, delicately painted brows, rosy cheeks, and a tiny pursed red mouth. One hand is raised to the mouth in a delightful finger-to-lips gesture, while the other is modeled with individually defined fingers.
The baby sits with bent legs and wears painted blue socks and metallic brown/gold luster shoes. Small touches of painted golden-blonde hair appear above the ears. The exaggerated eyes, wonderful expression, and unusual pose give this little figure considerably more personality than the typical German bisque baby figurine of the period.
The underside is unmarked and has a small original manufacturing/vent hole.
A particularly appealing little character piece for a collection of German bisque, googly dolls, character babies, miniature dolls and early 20th-century figurines.

Approximately 3 inches high.
Condition
Good antique condition with expected wear from age and handling. There is wear and loss to the metallic finish on the shoes, along with scattered minor paint wear, surface marks, and typical manufacturing irregularities. The small hole on the underside appears original to manufacture.
No chips, cracks, or repairs observed.
No maker’s mark or mold number found.
